Sierra and Tim’s Flagstaff engagement session brought us to Hart Prairie, with views of the San Francisco Peaks and nearby aspen groves. Their gallery shows another side of Northern Arizona: mountain scenery and open space for portraits together. If you love a mountain backdrop for your engagement photos, start here for inspiration.
Choosing a portrait location starts with the experience you want to have. You might prefer broad mountain views, a wooded setting or the red rocks around Sedona. Hart Prairie gave Sierra and Tim’s photographs a sense of place while keeping the attention on them.
I photograph couples in Flagstaff, Sedona and the surrounding area. During planning, we can discuss your favorite scenery, how much walking feels comfortable and the season you have in mind. Those details help us choose a setting that suits you.
Wear clothing you can move in and shoes that work for the terrain. Bring a layer for changing temperatures, and choose colors that feel comfortable to you. Light, weather and access also shape an outdoor session, so we will review current conditions as your date approaches. The Coconino National Forest website is a useful resource for current forest road information.
You do not need to know how to pose. My approach combines gentle direction with time for natural movement and connection. Explore Sierra and Tim’s gallery below to see their Flagstaff engagement session, from the surrounding scenery to portraits of the two of them.
If you are planning engagement or anniversary photos in Northern Arizona, explore my current couples sessions and fill out the contact form. Share your date, where you will be staying and the kind of setting you love, and we can begin planning together.
